Sometimes you might need to make a schedule booking for which you are under-resourced. When this happens, we suggest you use Placeholder Resources, rather than real Artists. Placeholder Resources are a way of making a booking without specifying exactly who is going to be working on the task. Create them in the same way you create regular Resources, and be sure to assign them the most useful Services if you wish to book Services too. Once you have availability, you can simply move the booking from the Placeholder onto the correct Resource.
Placeholder Resources are marked as Generic, which means they do not incur scheduling conflicts. If a Generic Resource is double-booked, the system will not flag it or automatically default new bookings to 2nd Pencil status.
The Generic setting can also be applied to a real Resource, for example where an Artist genuinely works across two Jobs at the same time. Each booking is then costed separately from the Resource's Contract. However, as conflicts will no longer be flagged for that Resource, any double bookings will need to be managed manually.
To create a Placeholder Resource:
- Create a new Resource or open an existing one
- Tick the Generic checkbox
- Click Save
